Vive La Revolution! Timely transit of Venus hails Precious ‘Spirit’ Ring launch at Treasure 2012

Marking the rise of the solar feminine, Vicky Forrester, internationally exhibited contemporary jeweller, launches new work at Treasure UK 2012 that celebrates our time of divine creativity.

Since making her first pieces of jewellery 30 years ago, Vicky has gained a reputation for her highly original and inspired work. Describing them as precious, powerful and playful objects, , she combines the inherent qualities of materials with innovative techniques to produce wearable precious forms that delight the senses.

Says Vicky: ‘Jewellery is magic! When worn it becomes a powerful entity that can instantly transform your mood and your energy levels. The notion of preciousness goes beyond material; it describes the relationship we have with our jewellery. Jewellery becomes precious only when we choose to engage with it and for me it’s about it’s history intertwined with your own story. it’s such a personal experience! I love that it has this ability to transform the wearer and in my jewellery designs I like to exploit this element of play’.

In her latest pieces for the Precious collection, Vicky takes influence from our times; the joyous dance of Venus with the Sun has come to symbolise a move towards an era of new values that place the spirit centre stage. Part ring, part vessel, the Spirit ring embodies the solar-feminine energy in its form; it draws you to hold it preciously in your hand.

Also on show will be a selection of jewellery from Vicky’s Medusa collection:

Reclaiming the power of the Snake Goddess, the Medusa collection combines solid sterling silver with high quality leather to create a powerful retro-futuristic aesthetic. These edgy and hypnotic pieces invite you to play with coiling forms, each time offering a new way to wear them.

Vicky Forrester’s jewellery has been exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad through various specialist galleries (Electrum, Lesley Craze, Flow, ProArte Monaco). She makes one-off pieces to commission, also producing limited-edition collections. Vicky is the founder and director of Flux Studios. Vicky has spent the last 6 months writing ‘Elemental Jewellery’ – an inspirational projects-based book on making contemporary jewellery (ISBN-10: 09564382xX, publisher Fil Rouge Press, release date 11 October 2012)
